On January 1, 2012, the Work Health and Safety Act of 2011
together with the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2011 has started taking
effect in replacement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1991 and the
Occupational Health and Safety Regulations act of 1994. Although there are new
codes that have been introduced to these acts, some of the old codes were
retained.
The act aims to harmonize the standards of health and safety
in the workplace among all states and territories. For business owners who are
in strict compliance with the previous legislation, particularly the ones
operating in various areas have also been given the chance to easily follow on
set of regulations without incurring additional cost. Click here to learn more about work health and safety act.
